Today is my birthday. This weekend we celebrated my birthday by attending a Whole Foods couples cooking class (#59 is done). It was amazing! I loved our instructor Chef Allison Heaton. We made caprese salad, Italian wedding soup, gnocchi with wild mushroom ragout, and tiramisu. We had a blast. You can tell it will be a good night when you start it of with a glass of champagne. :)Wednesday, October 29, 2008

#66 Find a new Optometrist
With getting married and moving you have to find new Doctors. This requires research to find good Doctors. These Doctors then have to be searched for with the useless "search" function on the insurance website. When you come up empty handed then you just pick one from the list you have accumulated and call. That happened to be Stars in Your Eyes Optometry. I booked an appointment for both C and I.
They are located in a tiny little place on South Congress. I love them. I would recommend Dr. Wright to anyone! I am very particular about my contacts (gas permeable) and seeing well. This visit I needed new contacts and glasses I wasn't ashamed to leave the house in. I am still waiting for my contacts to come in, but here are the new glasses. What do you think?

# 15 make a New Friend
I think I can check this one off. I put this on my list because I really needed to make an effort to meet more people in Austin. It is hard to do that when you are not in school and you don't have a job ;)
I am just bummed that my new friend, N, will be packing up and moving to the west coast :( I think that we will still keep in touch though. I will miss her dearly. Who else am I going to scrap with, go to book club with, and play random German games with? *sigh*

# 99 Go to the Beach
Labor Day weekend we also found time to drive down to Corpus Christi. We ate at a Delicious seafood restaraunt named Catfish Charlie's. They had the most delicious hush puppies! Yum! I also had unlimited catfish. It is a place you should definitely try out if you are in the area. After that we went to the Texas State Aquarium. I love going to aquariums! What is really cool about this aquarium, is that they only have species that are native to the Gulf of Mexico. It wasn't the best aquarium ever, but still worth the trip.
Then we headed to the beach. We went to Padre Island National Seashore. Since it is a National Park, you do have to pay $10 per car to get in. It is worth every penny though. Because of the fee it keeps the "rif raf" out and the beach is maintained by the park service. Another bonus is that it is 118 miles of undeveloped coastal beach. This means nothing but dunes, sand and beach as far as the eye can see! I loved going to this beach. The sand was so soft and there weren't a ton of people. It was nice to have our own stretch of beach. ahhh. I wish we could go back. Not sure how that area is after hurricaine Ike...

#86 Play Putt Putt
Over the Labor Day weekend C decided we would do a "tour" of putt putt courses in Austin. He plotted out this complicated map with 6 or 7 courses on it. We got to the first place and it was closed for renovations. We got to the second place and it was too creepy to stop. We got to the third place and it didn't open until evening. The fourth place didn't exist any more. We couldn't find the sixth place, maybe it didn't exist either. Finally we made it to Main Event! I thought C was going to snap because his plan had failed so miserably. Fortunately there were not many people at Main Event so we could take our time and chat. The picture above was taken on their indoor glow in the dark course. We didn't even make it to Peter Pan because we were so exhausted from failure! Live and Learn I guess.
